The Operational Risk Manager is part of the second line of defence (2LoD), supporting and challenging to the business in its management of non-financial risks. The individual provides experienced support to deliver the risk strategy and culture for the firm. As part of the matrix model between Brown Shipley and its parent, Quintet, the role-holder will regularly contribute to and collaborate on the development and implementation of a groupwide approach to managing risk.
• Support the delivery and embedding of the risk framework and policies, including but not limited to risk events management, key risk indicators, risk assessments, action tracking, and risk reporting.
• Provide insightful analysis to support the effective management of risks by the first line of defence (1LoD).
• Act as a risk steward, providing expert advice, guidance and independent challenge to enable safe and sustainable delivery of our strategy through effective identification, assessment and management of risks.
• Provide effective risk reporting, focusing on the key risks faced by the business and assessing those risks against risk appetite to recommend appropriate action to be taken or inform decision making.
• Develop and maintain positive and effective relationships with key stakeholders through pro-active engagement, providing influence and on-going education to become a trusted, strategic business partner.
• Support the embedding of a strong risk culture across the business.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of the non-financial risk aspects of the ICAAP in accordance with industry best practice.
• Maintain an approach of continual personal development, keeping up to date with current best practice. Ensure that external insights are shared and leveraged.
• Experience of enterprise or operational risk within financial services, with a background in private banking, asset and/or wealth management
• Good understanding of the key components of a risk framework and the three lines of defence model
• Strong communicator, comfortable proactively engaging with staff across all departments and levels
• Good understanding of regulatory landscape
• Experience working in a matrixed, group environment (beneficial)
