As a Financial Crime Compliance Sanctions Expert you will be a subject matter expert within the Group FCC team, providing expertise on sanctions-related matters across all Quintet locations. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with complex, multi-jurisdictional sanctions regulations and frameworks, including EU, UK, UN, and U.S. OFAC sanctions. Working closely with local compliance teams and the broader compliance function, the Sanctions Expert develops, implements, and monitors sanctions policies and controls that align with both regulatory requirements and business objectives in each jurisdiction. The role holder will be responsible supporting the broader Compliance function in identifying, investigating and reporting sanctions indicative of money laundering, terrorist financing and/or transactions with sanctioned parties for Quintet.

Key Accountabilities

- Risk Stewardship and Compliance: Act as the escalation and primary advisor on sanctions compliance for stakeholders across all Quintet jurisdictions, interpreting regulatory changes and advising on potential impacts to business processes and compliance frameworks. Advise the first line and business process owners on appropriate steps and approaches to be taken to ensure that systems and processes which support implementation are aligned to the standard/procedural requirements and control the identified risks 
- Risk Assessment and Management: Conduct risk assessments to identify and mitigate sanctions-related risks, ensuring that effective controls and due diligence practices are in place across all applicable countries. 
- Policy Development and Implementation: Lead the development and implementation of sanctions policies, procedures, and training materials to ensure alignment with local and international regulatory requirements. 
- Transaction and Name Screening: Oversee the sanctions screening process for name (clients existing and new) and  transactions ensuring that potential sanctions violations are escalated and managed appropriately. Provide advice on sanctions screening system calibrations and rule management. 
- Investigation and Reporting: Oversee sanctions-related investigations, coordinating with relevant authorities for reporting requirements and conducting root-cause analysis for any identified breaches or issues. 
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with legal, compliance, risk, and business functions to integrate sanctions controls into wider FCC frameworks, adapting strategies to accommodate country-specific needs. 
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with regulatory bodies and industry groups to stay informed on sanctions developments, ensuring the organization’s compliance posture remains robust and proactive. 
- In Depth Sanctions Knowledge: Extensive understanding of EU, UK, UN, and U.S. OFAC sanctions regimes, with experience navigating sanctions complexities across multiple jurisdictions. 
 

Knowledge and Experience

- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills to assess and interpret sanctions risks and develop actionable, risk-based solutions. 
- Regulatory and Legal Acumen: Proven ability to interpret regulatory language and apply it to practical business situations in a compliant and commercially viable manner. 
- Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to advise stakeholders, train teams, and foster cross-functional collaboration across multiple countries and cultures. 
- Professional Experience: 5+ years of experience in sanctions compliance within financial crime compliance or a related field, preferably with experience across European jurisdictions and the UK. 
- Education Master’s degree in Law, Business or Economics or relevant professional experience (ACAM or similar FCC related certifications is an advantage)

Technical Skills

Strong levels of technical experience of the application of regulation to the business model in all states of evolution  
Solid understanding of Private Banking business (including applicable regulatory requirements)  
Sound knowledge of the MS Office software tools (including Excel, PowerPoint and Word); Good knowledge of and an experience of Sanctions and FCC related systems is a strong advantage.  
Ability to problem solve and ensure consistent oversight to a standard of positive assurance.   
Understand technical aspects of systems relevant to CDD, Transaction Monitoring, Risk Assessments, Screening and suspicious activity reporting

Languages Skills

Fluent in English, additional European language advantageous
